Part of a series of works titled ‘Fir Tree’ by artist Dana Yoeli, which began by tracing her grandfather’s memories of his hometown of Bayreuth in southern Germany. She followed 14 points/stories from his childhood, traveled there and collected fresh flowers from each location, took them to a studio she built in her hotel, and photographed them with window light. After returning to Israel, she printed the photographs, cut them out, and began assembling artificial bouquets—actually made from photographs of fresh flowers. Thus, each location her grandfather spoke about has a memorial bouquet, constructed like a victory wreath.
