Valeria Monis‘s works connect the underground art of Soviet Russian prison tattoos with traditional porcelain, uniting two opposing worlds that hold equal importance in Russian culture. The vase was hand-painted on a handmade ceramic casting and is partially glazed; the body of the vase remains exposed while the painting is coated with a glossy transparent glaze.
