This work was inspired by a scanned image of an uncut waist coat from the Cooper Hewitt online textile collection. This embroidered pattern was originally created in France in the late 18th century by an anonymous embroiderer as a gift for her lover. At first glance, Adi Fluman‘s work appears three-dimensional, but it is actually a flat print on paper, created through a Sisyphean digital “weaving” process in which the artist connects tens of thousands of points using 3D modeling software. The work seeks to create a moment of deep observation, where the viewer confronts the power of material objects and their impact on their inner world.
