Sophie Jungreis

In her artistic credo, Jungreis declares a path of searching for ‘inner perfection,’ seeking the emotional threads within stone that awaken under the touch of a sculpting tool, connecting to deep internal sources in both matter and spirit. In 1977, she completed her studies at the High School of Painting, Kalisher. Twenty-five years later, she began sculpting. She arrived at sculpture after a therapeutic process – an internal journey that guided her to the concreteness of hard stone on her way to self-fulfillment. For Jungreis, embracing hard stone represents both a release from heavy burdens embedded in the soul and finding the right path to free primal energies from their confinement.
