Established in 1927 in the Lombardia region by brother Cesare and Umberto Cassina and started its way as a wood workshop for producing elite furniture. In the 1950’s as technology of manufacturing grew stronger and more developed, Cassina adopted a new approach of commercial manufacturing, they’re even considered pioneers of using new technologies to achieve elite quality along with traditional, skilled crafting. The roots of their philosophy stems from the modernist movement and believing in the values of innovation, culture, and quality, all important to development of current design. This philosophy came across in the many resources invested in research and development of this brand that is considering the #1 leading brand in the design arena. They offer a few types of collection – the Masters collection and the Contemporary collection. The contemporary collection includes design items that echoing the modernist vision of the company with contemporary interpretation under the hands of leading designers such as Pierro Lissoni, Philip Starck and others. The Masters collection includes iconic pieces of furniture design by the leaders of the modernist movement such as Charlotte Perriand, Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Gerrit Rietveld and more. Throughout the years, the brand purchased original sketches and drafts of leading designers with unique rights so the furniture is designed under strict guidelines and linked to serial number and a unique signature.
