A LEGACY

Founded by Renzo Frau in 1912 in Torino, as a furniture workshop. Frau passed at a young age, but the small business kept running thanks to Frau’s wife – it actually expended and became one of the most established brands worldwide, a symbol of prestige excellence and the title – Made in Italy. The knowledge heritage of the brand, combining tradition with modern innovation, comes into play in all the furniture collections that present a clear line, elegance and prestige that breaks the limit of time. Manufacturing quality embedded with constant research in the field of leather created the now patented FrauPelle, types of leather that under a treatment of dying and processing gets a unique superior quality and resistance, a soft beautiful texture and a wonderful look and feel. Throughout the years, the brand collaborated with many designers, some of them are major icons and names of the Italian design scene including upcoming young designers. Their collections also look into both past and future – for example: it showcases the famous Chester chair designed by Frau yet inspired by British style in the times of King Edward while standing with modern, innovative designs that were designed months before its production. The company activity is spread out worldwide across genres and target audiences: The brand designs are for personal use and homes, work spaces and the auto and aviation industry. They even have an architecture dimension to the brand through collaborations with major architects such as Jean Nouvel, Norman Foster, Frank Gehry, Santaigo Calatrava and more. Nowadays, the company operates as a group that holds together prestige Italian brands under its wing such as Cassina and Cappelini.
