The roots of the Italian brand are in the 1920’s, from the region of Lombardi, Italy. It all started when Mario Romano managed a small family-owned business, manufacturing classic solid wood artisan furniture. Following the second world war, the next generation, Mario Riva, has joined the business, and the third generation followed and joined in the 70’s. Solid wood and artisanal carpentry became the pillars of the brand and they opened their first shop in Milan in 1987. In 1992, after their first presentation at the Milan annual furniture exhibit, the brand started spreading worldwide and making a global name for itself. The philosophy of Riva stands for integrating tradition and innovation as a dialog between ethical values to aesthetics, translated forward in the quality of products, their design and the sustainable values kept through the manufacturing process. The company promotes afforestation, recycled unique wood (Such as the Kauril tree from New Zealand that can reach the age of a 1000 years, Briccole tree from Venice or cedar from Lebanon) Their collections include different styles of furniture – classic, artistic, contemporary and modern as well as customizable options. Top architects and designers collaborated with the brand, just to name a few: David Chipperfield, Michele Di Lucci, Mario Bota, Antonio Chitterio, Andrea Branzi, Karim Rashid, Carlo Colombo and more.
