werner aisslinger
This german-born architect and industrial designer is a graduate of the HBK university, currently living in berlin, where his studio is also located. Before founding his own studio, he worked with Ron Arad and Jasper Morrison in London as well as Michele De Lucchi in Milan. He has a background in the academy and used to teach in universities in Germany and Finland. His design aesthetics is experimental and artistic, and his works combine a versatile, innovative use in material and a dialog between material, technology, and emotional dimension. He has a tendency for innovation and towards futuristic research in design, always seeking new material and content for design that will be more efficient than anything else. His designs are pure and organic to our days. For example: The Juli chair he designed for Capellini in 2009 was the first furniture items he designed using a brand-new material called Polyuretane integral Foam. The revolving chair with the adjustable seat was chosen to be on the permanent collection of MOMA NYC, the first “German” chair in the collection since 1964. He also designs spaces in architectural projects around the world: hotels, stores, and showrooms. His innovative driven approach to design also shows in his architectural style such as the Loftcube he designed – a transportable building he designed that can be moved around but also has a changeable interior design – it can work for work, living, vacation and more. In the last Milan furniture exhibit he designed the Dedon space and he regularly collaborates with super brands such as Moroso, Magi, Zanotta, Capellini, Vitra and more. Aisslinger is considered a “serial” award winner. Since 1992, when he first launched a design career, every year in his resume is highlighted by a few award and prizes. You can find his works in many permenent collections of museums all over the world – MOMA and MET in NYC, A&V in London, Vitra museum, Fonds National D’art Contemporair in Paris and more.
